Infamy of Esteban Guitar Lessons

Getting To Know Esteban Guitar Lessons

You may have come across some Esteban guitar lessons in your search for the most comprehensive guitar courses on the internet. There are a lot of bad write ups about Esteban, but not usually about the video lessons that he is responsible for. This leaves you wondering if Esteban’s guitar courses are really worth taking on or not. To understand it, you have to take a step back and know the story.

Who is Esteban

Esteban’s real name is Stephen Paul. He claimed to have been playing the guitar since he was a kid. When he was in high school, he is said to have pursued the legendary Andres Segovia and studied with him. Andres Segovia has written tons of books, but has never mentioned Esteban in one of them. As a result, Esteban’s tutelage under Segovia came under heavy fire. To top it all off, Esteban claimed to have been endorsed by Segovia after the latter passed away – unable to confirm or dispute the former’s claim. This, however, is not the only reason why Esteban and his guitar lessons are infamous.

The Infamy

Esteban has appeared on Home Shopping Network and QVC, where he marketed his products consisting of albums that he recorded and his guitars, amps and other packages. At the time, he wasn’t even famous, or infamous. He did, however, have a cult following because he was performing in nightclubs. Esteban seemed to be a natural salesperson as much as he is a guitarist, as sales of his instructional videos, guitars, and other products took off. His products even outsold already well-known artists like Celine Dion.

Love Him or Hate Him

Esteban, once a nobody, was instantly pushed into the spotlight in front of an unprepared audience. He came under heavy criticism for his marketing methods, as others claimed his presence in TV was the only reason that people bought his products. Other well-known musicians criticize Esteban for his unverifiable claim of being Segovia’s protégé, but not for his guitar playing style. There those who laugh at Esteban’s guitar skills, but they are usually anonymous persons who haven’t made their mark in the music industry.

The fact remains that while Esteban may have employed cheap tactics to become famous, regardless of whether it is intentional or not, he can play the guitar. If his Esteban guitar lessons have helped other people learn the ways of the six-string, then it could help you too.
